Alexandra “Alex” McCann has over 15 years of experience in international business including export finance, project finance, debt restructuring, and international investment and trade development. Throughout her career, she has worked within a wide range of sectors, including cleantech, oil and gas, petrochemicals, telecommunications, and power.
In her role as Business Initiatives Specialist with the Office of Renewable Energy and Environmental Exports at the Export-Import Bank of the U.S. (Ex-ImBank), Alex conceptualized and executed the “Renewable Energy Express” product, and participated in the Africa Taskforce and Environmental Working Group, which developed the first carbon policy for the Bank. As principal of her independent consultant practice, Alex focused on identifying financing options and document assistance for cleantech companies.
As an Investment Attraction Executive with Nova Scotia Business Inc., Alex focuses on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and is passionate about helping companies achieve their goals in Nova Scotia, working diligently to find creative and personalized solutions. She holds a BA from the University of Virginia, double major in Anthropology and Asian Studies and earned an MA from the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in Pacific Asian Studies. Alex has traveled extensively and has lived in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Thailand, and Côte D’Ivoire, but calls Halifax, Nova Scotia home.
