Sanaa Ali-Mohammed is an innovator and community connector, and part of the first generation in her immigrant settler family to be born in Toronto, on the Ancestral Traditional Territories of the Ojibwe, the Anishinaabe and the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation. As Inspirit’s Program Officer, Sanaa administers various granting programs in support of change leaders. Prior to joining Inspirit, Sanaa worked as a political staffer for Toronto City Councillor Neethan Shan where she collaborated with constituents and community organizations on municipal projects, including a policy to designate a Day of Remembrance and Action on Islamophobia in the City of Toronto. Sanaa’s previous work has additionally been focused on youth civic engagement and addressing the challenges experienced by newcomers and refugees to Canada during their resettlement process. She holds an MA in International Development, and is a 2018 Muslim Youth Fellow. In her spare time, Sanaa can be found eating ice cream, mailing/waiting on post-cards from travels, and dabbling in various forms of self-defense.
