Inspirit Foundation is recruiting two people to join our Board of Directors. Board members bring skills, experiences, and understanding of different contexts that help guide our work. This is a governance board.   

We are looking for individuals with a passion for building a more pluralist society in the context of our mission, with the following skill sets:

  • Experience working in philanthropy 
  • Deep expertise in Canadian media and arts sectors 
  • Lived experience and/or connections to and within diverse Muslim and/or Indigenous communities 

For this recruitment cycle, we are prioritizing: 

  • An Indigenous person from the prairies or Northern Canada 
  • A Quebec-based Francophone person           

We understand not every candidate will have every skill set or attribute and encourage all those qualified to apply.

Q: I do not have the requested skill sets. Will I still be considered?
A: Inspirit will review and consider every submission. However, stronger consideration will be given to applicants with the skill sets as defined above for this recruitment cycle.

Q: How long are board terms?
A: Members serve a first term of three years, with an opportunity to be renewed for an additional term. 

Q: What are the expected time commitments?
A: Members are expected to commit two to three hours every two months for committee meetings and/or as required. Members are also expected to attend quarterly board meetings. Virtual meetings take place 1-2 times a year and range from three to five hours via Zoom. In-person meetings take place 1-2 times a year and are held across Canada. They are often paired with board learning trips and held over the span of one to two days, including travel.

Q: Are expenses covered for travel?
A: Inspirit will cover or reimburse all reasonable travel and meal expenses. 

Q: Is this a volunteer position?
A: Yes. All members of Inspirit’s Board of Directors are volunteers.
