La Converse

La Converse is a digital media outlet serving underrepresented communities in Québec. Launched as a month-long pop-up newsletter to fill an urgent need for reporting during the COVID-19 pandemic, it quickly engaged audiences and had made measurable impact across underserved communities.

Coop de Solidarité Pivot

Founded in 2021, Pivot is a French-language media outlet in Quebec that provides online news coverage from a resolutely progressive perspective. This grant supports the Documenters Canada project, an initiative that trains and pays people to document public meetings relevant to their community and works with news outlets to share the information gathered.

Coalition M.E.D.I.A

Coalition M.E.D.I.A. promotes equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility for professionals from underrepresented French-speaking communities in Canada’s screen industry.

Sacred Fire Productions

Sacred Fire Productions is an Indigenous arts organization whose mission is to build bridges between Indigenous artists and audiences of all ages and backgrounds, including urban areas, so that these artists can assert themselves, develop and live better from their art.

ORIZON 9

ORIZON 9 is a non-profit organisation whose mandate is to assist in the distribution, dissemination and promotion of films made primarily by diverse filmmakers. This grant supports Projections, a program designed to train directors and producers in the self-distribution of their films.

Muslims in Media

Muslims in Media was founded in 2021 with a mission to incubate independent media. Their goal is to support productions and offer professional development opportunities for artists working on nuanced depictions of Muslim life.
