Mosquers

The Mosquers was started in 2006 as a short-film festival to provide a platform for local films by Muslim filmmakers in Edmonton. It has emerged as a key organization in Canada’s Muslim creative sector over the past decade. This grant supported the 2024 Opening Credits event.

Canadian Association of Journalists

The Canadian Association of Journalists is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides advocacy and professional development for journalists across Canada. This grant supports the Press Freedom Research project.

Creatives Empowered

Creatives Empowered is a non-profit collective of emerging to established artists and creatives empowering each other as an allied community. Established in 2020, they are the first organization of its kind in Alberta. This grant supports the IBPOC Leadership Program for Alberta-based creatives.

The Aunte Indigenous Residency

The Aunte Indigenous Residency provides artists with the resources and support they need to develop their craft and enhance their professional skills through a variety of initiatives such as workshops, training programs, mentorship opportunities, and collaborative projects.

Press Forward

Press Forward is dedicated to ensuring people in Canada have strong, independent and community-focused journalism. They unify, elevate and advocate for independent media organizations and work to strengthen innovation, inclusivity and diversity in media across the country. This grant supports the Future of Independent Media Summit.

Productions Innu Assi

Productions Innu Assi is a non-profit organization based in Wendake with a mission to promote the beauty and diversity of First Peoples’ languages, cultures and values through innovative artistic, cultural, community and educational activities. This grant supports the “Challenging the barriers of the cinematographic industry” project.

Teesri Duniya Theatre

Teesri Duniya Theatre is dedicated to producing politically relevant plays that explore life-affecting issues faced by people today. Teesri aims to uplift the voices of historically marginalized communities by making the space for their cultural experiences to be reflected on their stage.

Indigenous 150+

Indigenous 150+ is dedicated to celebrating First Nations, Métis and Inuit voices and includes a podcast series and media training programs focused on career development for Indigenous youth and emerging creatives. This grant supports an Indigenous-led media training programming.

Northern Journalism Training Initiative

The Northern Journalism Training Initiative was created by a group of northern media professionals dedicated to consolidating the experiences and expertise of northern and Indigenous media practitioners, with the goal of sharing and expanding that knowledge. This grant supports a media monitoring project in the Northwest Territories.
